Rios stated: “I think that the point I want to make with this is this sounds stunning, it sounds a little bit like the priest scandal, doesn’t it Where all of this stuff went on, where Catholic seminaries, it was just festering with homosexual activism—homosexual recruitment, I should say.”
It should be first noted that pedophilia is in no way supported, or similar to the intentions of major LGBT advocacy groups or for homosexuals. To equate the two is simply irresponsible, irrational and ignorant of facts. The American Psychology Association has stated “homosexual men are not more likely to sexually abuse children than heterosexual men are.” It also has long since abolished homosexuality from its list of neurotic or ‘sick’ behavior.
To not simply equate the devastation of pedophilia with the behavior of two consenting adults of the same gender but to say it is the intention of “homosexual activism” to condone pedophilia is simply not true and based in unfounded faulted reasoning.
Dianne Gramley, director of the American Family Association has also stated: “We can’t ignore the homosexual aspect of this (the Penn State Scandal).”
However, it’s illogical to equate appropriate healthy homosexual behavior with the psychological harm and destruction of pedophilia, as it would be equally so if someone equated heterosexual behavior with pedophilia done to a young girl.
While gross misunderstandings of homosexuality exists, people (and I say people as human beings collectively) will continue to suffer from the oppression of misrepresented facts and from the possibility of creating justice. To fight against it, is unethical.
